Best Cars To Lease In 2021

Best cars to lease

Car leasing is a really affordable way to get into a brand new car. It’s sometimes called PCH – Personal Contract Hire – and that describes it well. It’s like a really long car hire arrangement.

This is because there’s no option to buy the car at the end of the deal, unlike with the other main type of car finance, PCP (Personal Contract Purchase). Leasing is otherwise similar, offering you the chance to get into a car for a number of years by paying for it monthly.

The process of buying is straightforward. If you don’t have a car at the moment, or if you’re currently using a finance deal, then you don’t have anything to worry about apart from the initial rental cost and then the monthly payments.

If you are currently driving a used car, you probably need to ask yourself “how much is my car worth?” and use an online valuation service or other online research to work that out (a car valuation tool is the fastest way to do this though, see link). Then you’ll know how much you can sell your current car for, and you’ll have yourself a budget.

Once you’ve got a budget, you can choose a car – and that’s where we come in. Below we’ve put together a list of some of the best cars to lease in 2021, covering a handful of categories. We’ll begin with some cars that are available with great leasing deals, then move on to models under £300 a month.

Young buyers might be looking for the best cars to lease so we’ve listed a couple of those, plus the best electric cars to lease as well. In all our categories you should be able to find something that suits you, and at a good price.

Best cars to lease

SEAT Leon plug-in hybrid £235/month

The SEAT Leon is practical and good to drive, but this deal on the plug-in hybrid model makes it even better value. It gets a hi-tech powertrain as well as lots of standard kit and a roomy interior.

BMW 3 Series Touring £316/month

The BMW 3 Series Touring is a superb all-rounder with a fantastic balance of handling, performance, comfort and technology. It’s also really spacious inside and has a big boot, so it’s a great choice for just about anyone.

Best cars to lease for under £300 a month

Skoda Karoq – £297 per month

The Skoda Karoq is a brilliant family car for less than £300 a month on a leasing deal. Its best feature is how spacious it is inside, but it’s also comfortable, has lots of equipment for the money and a smooth, quiet and efficient engine in 1.5-litre petrol form.

Audi A3 – £264 per month

The Audi A3 is a great choice if you want a more upmarket model. It has a brilliant interior that’s well made and full of technology, but is available for less than £300 a month. It’s pretty practical too, with enough space for adults in the rear seats and a decent boot. The A3 is also comfortable and good to drive.

Best cars to lease for young drivers

Volkswagen Up – £206 per month

The Volkswagen Up is a great choice for young people because it’s cheap to insure. The small 1.0-litre engine means it’s also really cheap to run in general, and low cost leasing deals keep the total costs right down, which is perfect for young drivers. It’s also good to drive, comfortable and even quite practical in five-door form.

Toyota Aygo – £170 per month

The Toyota Aygo is cheaper than the VW Up, and while it’s not as good to drive, it makes a lot of sense as a young driver’s car. It’s just as cheap to insure and run, but has a more stylish exterior look. It’s fun to drive, too.

Best electric cars to lease

Tesla Model 3 – £452 per month

The Tesla Model 3 has an impressive driving range of up to 360 miles, but this isn’t the only reason to buy one. It’s also comfortable, quiet and very quick, plus it has a package of technology unlike any other car thanks to the huge touchscreen in the cabin. The Model 3 is spacious inside as well, with plenty of room as a family car.

Renault Zoe – £374 per month

The Renault Zoe is one of the cheapest electric cars to lease, but still offers a high-quality cabin and a very impressive range of up to 250 miles. This should be more than enough for most people to drive to work all week, and could mean a huge fuel saving over an equivalent Renault Clio. However, a Zoe still costs quite a bit more to lease than a Clio.
