The Mickey Mouse Clubhouse app has been ranking in the kids App Store for weeks on end. The app is based on the jarring and educational kids TV programme “Mickey Mouse Clubhouse” and will therefore interest many parents and kids, who are already familiar with the kids TV-series. Let’s see what this colorful and fun app has to offer.

Paint and Play

The title of the app already reveals what this app is mainly about – first of all, kids get to draw and have lots of fun. Once you step into the Clubhouse, it appears to be pretty blank, pale and not very inviting. Even Mickey and Minnie Mouse appear all white and need to be colored in by the kids first. The app automatically changes into the coloring-book  view with lots of coloring utensils – thereunder very fancy tools, which we really like.

The highlight: The way that kids color and paint the objects, figures and backgrounds in the coloring book, is the exact way they appear in the game later on. The coloring pages come to life as 3D objects with the magic wand – a very interesting feature of this kids app.

Until all objects are colored in and the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse looks more inviting, kids will be busy for quite a long time. All in all there are three different areas, which can be played and colored in: the kitchen, the lounge and the garden.

Smaller games with Mickey and Minnie

By the way, Mickey and Minnie can be moved around in their surroundings and will explain all the various objects, in and around the house to the kids. There is even a Cupcake machine to be discovered, awaiting the kids in the kitchen. A Jukebox can be played in the lounge, kids can even record a few sounds if they like.

Promising seasonal surprise

We were quite chuffed when we discovered and played a new update of the Clubhouse app. All of a sudden, a dressed up Minnie and Mickey Mouse welcomed kids infront of a scary Halloween scenery. The whole Clubhouse was decorated with Halloween decorations, whereby the pumpkins offered a special surprise: Kids can even carve a face into the pumpkins with a carving knife and light the pumpkins face with a candle. The light in the Clubhouse can be adjusted and dimmed via light-switch, to get a cosy atmosphere.

The iTunes description says, that the seasonal activities are an integral part of the app. Disney will probably include other seasonal surprises and festivities to this app. It is therefore possible, that the Halloween scenery is only available for a couple of weeks (and perhaps get exchanged with a christmassy scenery instead). We’re looking forward to the next surprise and definitely welcome the upcoming change.
