Deshaun Watson: Exploring The Possible Trade Destinations

Deshaun Watson

There are a few NFL franchises that have been under the gun during the past few years were questionable decisions. For example, the New York Jets continue to set a record for futility, not having been to the Super Bowl and more than 50 years. Then, there are the Dallas Cowboys, who always seem to be mediocre despite having all the talent in the world. Of course, who can overlook the Detroit Lions, who have only one playoff win in the past five decades? All of this said, the Houston Texans appear to be the most dysfunctional franchise on the face of the planet right now. The Houston Texans traded away their best receiver for next to nothing. Then, they fire their head coach, who also happened to be their general manager, in the middle of the year. They have one of the best young quarterbacks in college football and still somehow managed only a 4 – 12 record. Now, it appears that the one bright spot for the franchise is requesting a trade. Why is this the case, and how did the Houston Texans get this so wrong?

DeShaun Watson Wants To Be Traded

Many Texans fans will be very disappointed when they glance up at the LED scoreboard and see that DeShaun Watson is no longer in the Houston Texans jersey. The former Clemson standout appears to be done with the Houston Texans. Many people had quoted him, saying that if he was at a 2 when DeAndre Hopkins asked to be traded, he is now 10. Many people reported him as furious that he was not consulted when the team looked for its new general manager. There are reports that the Texans told him that he would be involved in the general manager search, only to leave him in the dust. An ultimate sign of disrespect, it appears that this was the last straw for DeShaun Watson.

Where Is DeShaun Watson Going To Go?

Of course, the Houston Texans will do everything they can to hang on to a quarterback who they believe is the future of their franchise. At the same time, DeShaun Watson is not currently returning their phone calls. Therefore, it seems like no matter who they decide to hire to be their next head coach, DeShaun Watson wants out.
Because DeShaun Watson has a no-trade clause, he has a tremendous amount of control over where he goes. If he doesn’t want to go somewhere, he can refuse to release the no-trade clause, meaning the Texans will not get nearly as much as they wish for Deshaun Watson.

There are some people who speculate that he wants to go back to New York, where he is from. Other people claim that he may be headed to the Indianapolis Colts, where they appear to be a quarterback away from contending for a Super Bowl. Furthermore, Philip Rivers just retired, so the Colts need another quarterback. Other people believe that he may be headed to Chicago, where they have a standout defense and haven’t had a good quarterback since Jim McMahon in the 1980s. Regardless, it is essential to consider the cap hit that DeShaun Watson will carry wherever he goes. This is something that will factor into the decision.

The Houston Texans Are a Dumpster Fire

Right now, the Houston Texans are a franchise that is in complete disarray. Even their former star wide receiver, Andre Johnson, is taking the side of DeShaun Watson. It will be interesting to see where the young superstar ends when all of this is said and done.
