In most restaurants that serve fruit salad, it will appear in the dessert section. Traditionally this may be the case, but there are plenty of versions of fruit salad that can be served as any course. To determine if you believe the recipes are genuine, it depends on what you consider to be a fruit salad. Fruit salads are served under various guises.   • In winter, there is also an option for a starter. Take kiwi, orange, apple, pear, plums, and bananas. Trickle warm honey over it and add a touch of mint.

Fruit salad as a main course

  • Chicken and fruit salad will be a healthy main course. Cook the chicken in marmalade, then add slices of strawberries, raspberries, pineapple, and oranges. To take away the sweetness, soy sauce can be used.
  • Coconut grove fruit salad – Rather than use a plate, this can be served in the shell of the coconut. Fish will be the ideal protein, and tropical fruit can be added. These include bananas, guava, papaya, and lime. The coconut milk will be an ideal accompaniment. 
  • On a hot summer’s day, the normal salad can be replaced by a fruit one. A bed of lettuce will be the base, and then a mixture of fruit added. Cherry tomatoes can be alongside blackberries, pomegranate seeds, slices of peach, and apple. Top it off with an excellent yogurt dressing, but be sure to avoid dressings that contain maltodextrin. Although there are recipes for fruit salads as alternative dishes, it does not mean that they are the only ones that can be used. There is such availability of fruit now that at any time of the year, you should be able to source your favourite. A fruit salad will be the ideal way to have a healthier diet and try fruits that you have not tried before. Dried fruits can give a bit of crunch if the rest are berries, and it does not have to be just fruit. Add different nuts and take the fruit salad to an entirely different level.
