A Complete Guide To Advertising Using YouTube

Advertising Using YouTube

You can advertise on YouTube using Google Ads. It is a great way to promote a business through videos. You can create several types of ads on YouTube: TrueView ads, Non-skippable ads, bumper ads, sponsored card ads, and display ads.

TrueView Ads

TrueView ads are the main types on Youtube. They are a great way to reach your target audience, and they don’t cost an arm and a leg. You will only be charged for these ads when viewers watch 30 seconds or more of your ad.

These ads are skippable, so many people will skip, so you won’t get charged for the ones that are skipped before the 30 seconds. These ads can be any length, so you can choose to show a product off or show testimonials in your video ads.

Non-Skippable Ads

Non-skippable ads are the same as TrueView ads, but you can’t skip these. Because viewers cannot control these ads by skipping after a few seconds, they are very unpopular. YouTube used to allow non-skippable ads to be 30 seconds long, but now, they must be 15 to 20 seconds long.

Now, you might wonder, does that mean you never get charged for these? No, it doesn’t. YouTube charges you for non-skippable ads on a CPM (cost-per-mile) basis. For example, they will charge a set price per every 1000 views.

Bumper Ads

These ads are 6-second-long ads to bump up a marketing campaign. Many businesses use them as part of a more extensive campaign. They are not ideal for long, informational ads, but they are perfect for getting creative with your campaign messages.

Sponsored Card Ads

These appear on the top corner of videos as an ‘I’ symbol. They are little pop-ups with a call-to-action text. These sponsored cards can display products on Google Shopping or even another video on YouTube.

Display Ads

Display ads are the ones you can see all over YouTube’s website. For example, the ones appearing on the side of the page, above recommended videos. They come in different sizes, which you can choose before running the campaign.
