 Hanging Indent is just an inverse of common indent.

An ordinary indent focuses the initial line of the paragraph to the right and other text to the left but hanging in debt doesn’t focus on the first line.

Bibliographies and cited pages(in MLA format) are common in this style. It is also used in creating a list.

How to Do a Hanging Indent Google Docs :  Method to create a hanging indent on Google Docs

  • Ruler mostly appears in the top of documents if it’s not visible then proceed with steps below:

(a)Go to view   (b)Click on Show the ruler

The ruler will appear on the screen

  • Select the part of the text in which you want to add a hanging indent. It can be a paragraph, line or any body.
  • To find left indent icon which appears like a blue triangle facing down, you have to go back to rule. Now find small blue rectangle for left margin control.

 Both of them can be browsed in the left margin.

  • Press the left indent and drag it towards the right. Common indent is almost half an inch only.

Please ensure that while you are performing this and margin control moves along with it. So that text keeps getting intended.

  • Be cautious that hanging indent word and margin control is only dragged. Make sure while you are moving them, grey margin doesn’t move at all. There should be a grey space between control and margin.

If your grey margin has moved you have to restart it all again.
