LinkedIn Background

LinkedIn is one of the most respected and valuable social networks on the Internet today and reaches more than 850 million members in 2023. In addition to creating a personal profile for yourself, LinkedIn provides a robust way to list and promote your business. After you’ve created your own LinkedIn page, the next step to fully utilizing the LinkedIn platform is to compile a Company Page.

A LinkedIn business profile accomplishes several important things. First, it should be pointed out that LinkedIn research indicates users are 50% more likely to make a purchase from a company they engage with on LinkedIn (January 2012). From an online marketing perspective, a company page generates buzz and increases your overall online profile exposure. This strategy provides a strong instance of your business on the Internet. In addition, visitors can learn information and news about your business. The page provides a successful tool to build relationships. Through this popular platform, users can connect and share with current and prospective customers, colleagues, and partners.

We’re going to boost your business’s findability and recognition on LinkedIn with these simple steps.

Creation Process On LinkedIn

LinkedIn business profile

  1. Sign up for a LinkedIn account OR log into your account to make updates to your existing Company page.
  2. Before creating the Company page, be sure to create your own profile page if you haven’t already done so.
  3. Click here to start creating your Company page. Another option is to click “Interests” then “Companies” in the top tool bar when you’re on the LinkedIn homepage. Add the company name and email address.
  4. A confirmation email will be sent to your email inbox. Click on the link to verify the email address and continue the process.
  5. Sign into your LinkedIn account and begin filling in the Overview section.
  6. Carefully write a Company Description because this section is shown in Google and amplifies your ranking. Include keywords, but don’t make this section too long to bore the reader. Provide a link to your website in the Description.
  7. Upload high-quality business images. These images are essential because they attract viewers, are the first things that users view when visiting the page, and increase the creditability and trust. The page asks for three graphics:
a large image (at least 646×220 pixels), a standard logo (maximum size 2 MB – 100×60 pixels), and a square logo (maximum size 2 MB – 50 x 50 pixels).
  8. Fill in the Company Specialties area. You’re able to add a large number of keywords here, so it’s important to take advantage of that option. Complete this section and make your profile as keyword targeted as possible.
  9. If your business is involved in any groups or associations, be sure to add those in the Featured Groups. The business will need to currently be a member of the group in order to feature the logo.
  10. Be sure to complete the right side bar information on the profile page as well. This section includes important data like your company type, size, website URL, industry, operating status, year founded, and location(s).
  11. Verify that all the business contact information is added on to the page and that it is accurate.
  12. Click “Publish” on the top right side of the page. Your work will NOT be saved if you don’t hit “Publish.”

Additional Tips

To build a larger presence throughout LinkedIn, think about adding these extras after the essentials have been completed on your company profile.

  1. Fill in the Products & Services Tab. Include information here that you want to individually feature for your prospective and current customers. To target customers, you may want to also think about highlighting a promotion or free services on this tab as well.
  2. Add videos to generate more clicks and impressions.
  3. Be sure to encourage recommendations for your business. Endorsing your business takes just a few minutes but has a lasting and trusting impact for those people who visit your page.
  4. If you’re business is hiring, consider adding career opportunities to your page.
  5. Test out promoting the page with LinkedIn Targeted Ads.

How To Get More Followers Brings More Site Traffic

Recently, HP reached the 1 million followers milestone. The company was the first to reach this extraordinary accomplishment, and many others are not far away because they are making LinkedIn a priority in their marketing campaigns. We put together some strategies below that will help you to create a more engaging and influential Company Page. Gaining more exposure on LinkedIn will not only drive more LinkedIn followers, but it will also earn better rankings in search engines and increase your overall site traffic.

  1. Notify your customers that the LinkedIn Company Page is now live! Post a quick update on your other social media platforms, and you can include a link to the page to encourage follows.
  2. Follow Groups related to your industry. Take one step further and become active in these groups. Groups are wonderful resources for communicating, networking, and discovering strategy and topic ideas.
  3. Be sure to post a LinkedIn logo or share icon on your website and blog. Make it easy for users to share your published content on LinkedIn.
  4. Get employees involved. Ask your fellow employees to add a link to the business on their own personal pages. In addition, you can suggest they add the company and position to their own profile, and it will be able to show up on the LinkedIn Company Page. Another idea is to consider asking everyone to add a link to their email signatures or to add links to the individual LinkedIn pages on the “Meet The Team” page.

Personalized Status Updates & Insights

Post targeted status updates on a consistent basis to increase reach for your business.

  1. Did you think we were going to write a blog post without mentioning the importance of rich content? Engage your customers with insightful and personalized content in your company’s status updates. Some status update ideas include blog posts, industry data or news, fun action photos, what you’re thinking about today, etc. Make sure that each update is relatable and relevant to your followers. 2. Showcase images and videos in your updates when you can. Visual, engaging content leads to a higher engagement level.
  3. There are many free social media tools that will simultaneously schedule updates to enhance your LinkedIn presence in a time effective manner.
  4. About 24 hours after posting a status update, impression data is displayed under each post. This data will drive insights on upcoming status updates (when to post, who to target, what content receives the largest number of clicks, etc).
  5. You can learn more details about your followers under the View Follower Insights Tab. The Insights section can be a huge asset to your business by tracking specific metrics, such as member and follower trends, company update impressions, follower, demographics, and company update engagements (clicks, likes, comments, shares).
