Fitness trackers are being used by many people to keep an eye on the level of fitness that they achieve every single day. These awesome bands are quite accurate with their readings and thus very popular fitness equipment. However, like other things you may also face problems with handling them. Let us have a look at how to restart Fitbit versa and tackling any other issues faced with it.

Syncing issues

Fitbit syncs with your device using the Bluetooth feature. In case you are facing any issues with the same the solution lies in the settings of the Fitbit app.

Solutions

  • First and foremost, check if you have the Fitbit app installed on your mobile. Plus, syncing the Bluetooth has to be turned on. To do that go to settings<Bluetooth on and do the needful. 
  • See that the always-connected option is on in your Fitbit app. Go to the app and then click on your account photo, the tracker name, and scroll towards the bottom to toggle the Always connected button.
  • See that the All-day sync button in Fitbit is on. Go back to the app, tap on the account photo, then the tracker name, and ensure that All-day sync toggle has been turned on.
  • You can also try and remove your Fitbit device from your account and then re-adding it. Open the app, tap on account photo and then the tracker name and click on the trash icon given in the top right of the screen. Select unpair and then go about pairing your device once again.
  • In case your Android runs on Marshmallow 6 or above you will have to grant the Fitbit permission to manually scan for Bluetooth devices.
  • You may have to force quit the Fitbit app. For that you should go to Settings>Apps & notifications>See all apps>Fitbit>Force Stop. You may also press the Fitbit icon for long. When you feel a vibration look for small i and then proceed with Force stop.
  • Try turning Bluetooth on and off again and again till you get the device connected. Or you may restart your mobile and see if things improve. 
  • If none of the above works you may uninstall and reinstall the Fitbit app.

Fitbit not receiving notifications from the Android

Solutions

  • Make sure that you are within 20 feet of the mobile device. Since the syncing happens through Bluetooth you would have to ensure that the device is in range of the mobile.
  • See that there is no other Bluetooth device connected to your smartphone. It may cause a hurdle in receiving the notifications sent.
  • It is possible you are receiving delayed notifications and for that instability of Bluetooth connection may be responsible. Go to the app and click on your profile photo, choose the tracker and then Call and text notifications and then choose Enable notification widget.
  • See that your smartphone is not in the Do not disturb mode.
  • If required force quit the app. To do that go to Settings>Apps & notifications>See all apps>Fitbit>Force Stop.
  • Try to turn the Bluetooth on and off. Go to Settings< Bluetooth and turn the toggle on and off again and again. You could also restart your mobile and uninstall and reinstall the Fitbit app.

Fitbit not charging properly

Solutions

  • See that the Fitbit tracker and charging cable are quite clean.
  • You may also plug your tracker into a different USB port and see if things work. A UL certified wall charger may do your job best.
  • Check that your Fitbit’s device pins are properly lined up on charging cable. This problem often arises in the charging of Fitbit charge and Alta devices.
  • Try and restart your Fitbit device. You would have instructions to do so on the manual.
  • In case the problem looks in the charger buy a new one from any online store.

 

Problem with quick view and recognition

Most Fitbit trackers have a feature Quick view that allows you to just raise your hand and see all the data on it. Instead, some of the variants just require a tap on one side and would display all the necessary information. However, this may cause some problems, and below are how you can tackle the same.

Solutions

  • For a quick view, the device should know which wrist you are going to wear it on. To see if there is a problem in that you should go to the app, select your photo, and then see that Quick view toggle has been turned on.
  • Over there you would also see options where you can mention your wrist details. You have to ensure you are wearing it on the correct wrist and the same has been mentioned correctly.
  • For tap recognition, you should see that you are tapping it at the correct place. Also, the tap should be neither too soft nor too hard.
  • A one or two-second delay in the Fitbit responding to your taps is fine and you must give the tracker time to react.

Fitbit is not updating properly

  • Try restarting the tracker, instructions on the same would be mentioned in the manual.
  • Now update it again, if it does not work restart your mobile device.
  • Remove the Bluetooth connection from the tracker. Go to Bluetooth in your mobile settings. Find your Fitbit and choose Forget.
  • You could also try updating your tracker from some other device.
  • Try to remove your tracker from your Fitbit account. For mobile you can do so by going on Account> [Fitbit device]>Remove this device. On Fitbit’s website you can use Settings>Devices> [Fitbit device]>Remove this device from your account. Lastly, add your tracker back to the account. Under account settings, you should choose “Set up a device” and proceed with the instructions.

Fitbit’s alarm not working

Sometimes the silent alarms of Fitbit do not work as per the specifications. Follow the below instructions for the same.

Solutions

  • Make sure you have an alarm set up. Go to the app and choose Account, select the device, and then tap on Alarm.
  • You will have to test the vibration motor for your tracker which would be different for each tracker.
  • Fitbit Charge 3 and 4- Just press the side button when it is working. The vibration can be felt.
  • Versa 2 and Versa Lite- Swipe over the tracker and select timer. Tap on Stopwatch and then on Play to feel the vibration.
  • Fitbit Ionic- From the main clock face you must press the button on the left side and keep it like that. The tracker should vibrate twice.
  • Fitbit blaze- Go and swipe over the Timer. Tap on it, and then stopwatch followed by Play.
  • Fitbit Alta HR- Clip the device to the charging cable and see that cable is plugged into a USB port on any computer.
  • Press button on charging cable and check the vibration.
  • Fitbit Flex- You should tap below the lights present on your tracker. The device should vibrate on doing so.

Fitbit band breaking

Solutions

  • Go to the Returns and Warranty page on the Fitbit website and choose the option. However, this can be used only if the tracker faced troubles within 45 days of being purchased.
  • You also get a one-year warranty from Fitbit. So, if you have a breakdown within that time you can approach them for getting the same fixed.

Restarting the Fitbit device

  • Fitbit charge 4– When the tracker is on you should press and keep its side button on hold for around 8 seconds. The tracker would restart, and you will feel a vibration.
  • Variants of Fitbit Versa– Press and hold its left button for some time. The display will turn off and the device would restart.
  • Fitbit Ionic and Blaze– Press both left and bottom buttons together and soon the Fitbit Logo can be seen. Leave the buttons the tracker would restart.
  • Fitbit Ace, Alta, and Alta HR– Clip the device to the charging cable and insert the cable into a USB port on a computer. Press button on charging cable thrice within 8 seconds. When you do so the Fitbit logo would be displayed. Now unplug the tracker from its charging cable.
  • Fitbit Surge– Press and keep the left and bottom buttons on hold for around 10-15 seconds. When you see the screen flash and dim and now you may leave the buttons. After 10 seconds press the left button and restart the tracker.
  • Fitbit one– Plug its charging cable into the computer and in the cable plug your tracker. Hold its button for around 10-12 seconds. Now remove the tracker and press the button till the device starts.
  • Fitbit Flex– Plug its charging cable into the computer and remove the tracker from the band. Press tracker into the cable and insert a paper clip into the small pinhole that you may see behind the charger. Do so for 3-4 seconds and then remove Flex from the charging cable.
  • Fitbit Flex 2– Plug its charging cable into the computer and remove the tracker from the wristband. Press the button on charging cable thrice within 5 seconds. After some time, the lights will start flashing. You may now take out the tracker from the charger.
