How You Can Set An MP3 File As Custom Ringtone Or Notification Sound On Android

Often it happens that we want a particular tone as a ringtone or notification sound. Doing that on Android is not tough provided you know how to proceed with it. Though Samsung phones have a huge collection of ringtones of their own if you ever get bored of them here is how to set android ringtones.

Setting Custom MP3 Ringtones

Via the settings menu

  • Copy the Mp3 files to your phone. These files should figure in your music app.
  • Now go to settings-sound-device ringtone. Here you can see all the default ringtones of the phone
  • You can tap the add button and launch the media manager app. In case your phone has multiple media apps to choose media player from the options.
  • A list of music files would be displayed. Select any one of them and then tap done
  • This Mp3 track is now your new ringtone

Via the music player

  • Play desired Mp3 file in music player app
  • While it is playing open the Capacitive menu button and then “Options”
  • Now select ‘Set as’ and select which tone you wish to choose
  • You may set it as Ringtone, caller tune and alarm tune

Mp3 ringtone for a specific contact

  • Go to the contacts app and open the contact you wish to change the ringtone for
  • Scroll down and reach the “Ringtones” section. Click on it and three options will be shown
  • Default which will use the default ringtone
  • Ringtones you may select a specific one for that contact
  • Go to my files where you may set a ringtone from files available
  • Select Go to my files and choose the ringtone you want
  • Choose the Mp3 file and you are done

Setting the Mp3 as a custom notification tone

  • Copy the Mp3 files to your phone
  • Launch the file manager app present on your phone
  • Find out the desired Mp3 app and now copy it to the notifications directory. It will be in your phone’s internal storage. If you do not find it you may create a folder manually.
  • Now go to the main screen and open your Settings menu
  • Select Sound > Device notifications and choose the Mp3 to it

Using Ringtone manager apps

  • On your phone install the Ringtone manager app from Play store
  • Launch this app. All the music files will show in the app
  • You may tap the green menu next to the file. The options menu will be seen
  • Select Edit to edit this music file
  • On the next screen, you may slide the sliders to decide how much to trim
  • You may also adjust fade in/out effects or do volume adjustments
  • Once all the changes have been done you may press the Save button
  • You may now choose whether you wish to save the files as alarm, music, notification or ringtone
  • Give a file name and select “Save”
  • This music can now be used as ringtone or notification
