You have recently purchased a new iPhone and a MacBook to go with it. However, the problem is that you have to work on a Windows 10 device otherwise and these incoming messages make you unlock your iPhone every other minute. Below we tell you how to text with iMessages for Windows 10 so that you do not get distracted often.
Apple does not have a cloud-based system to respond to messages like these. However, you may use the Chrome remote desktop to actually be able to handle this problem.
In this case, you can use the iPhone X as the source messaging device and the MacBook air would be the host PC and the Windows PC as the client PC.
Messages for iPhone
- Open the Settings app
- Tap on the Apple Id account
- Click on iCloud
- Ensure that you toggle the messages (green)
Messages for MacOS
- Launch the messages app from the Launchpad or desktop
- Sign in with your Apple login details
- Go to the apps menu bar and click messages and then preferences
- Click the iMessage tab in the pop up you see
- Enable the account if required
- Now enable messages in iCloud
- Activate the email address and phone number on which you are available
- You may select or not select send read receipts
- Choose from where new conversations should start
- Now click on the sync now button
Chrome for MacOS
Now that iMessage is working fine the next step would be to download Google Chrome for Mac OS.
- Download Google chrome
- Now use your Google account details to sign in
- Install the remote desktop extension and authorize it if asked
- Now enter chrome://apps in your browser address bar and then click on Chrome remote desktop icon. Once you find it you can create a shortcut so as to access it easily later.
- In the pop-up window, you may click the Get started button and then enable remote connections.
- Select on Accept and install to get the host software that is needed.
- Once you receive the pop-up window select OK so as to download Chrome remote desktop host installer.
- Now find the chromeremotedesktop.dmg file that has been downloaded and double click on it. It will now start installing.
- Once done relaunch the chrome remote desktop again.
- Click on enable remote connections button now.
- Now create a pin that contains 6 digits. If needed you may re-enter your mac password.
- There will be a popup window that confirms that the remote connections have been enabled.
Make sure that the Mac does not go into sleep mode while it is idle. Go to system preferences- Energy saver and confirm that it should prevent the computer from sleeping when the display is off.
Windows 10
This will be a shorter version of the previous setup and the host component is required in this case.
- Install Google chrome.
- Sign in to it using your Google account.
- Go to the chrome web store and install the Chrome remote desktop extension
- Once the installation is over you must go to chrome://apps and click on the chrome remote desktop icon. If required create its shortcut on the desktop so that you do not have to keep going back to it.
- Now click on the get started button that you may find under My computers.
- On the list, you will find the host MacOS machine.
- Enter the pin number that you had earlier created on the MacBook.
Now your windows streaming on Mac Desktop is happening with Windows 10. There would be a small box that would give the message that your desktop is currently being shared.
You will see a stop sharing button that you can click when you need to stop it. In case you want to use the Windows 10 PC like a host you may click on the Enable remote connections on the Remote desktop screen.
