Mittens Disneys New Casual Game with Physics-Based Puzzles

Disneys brand new app is called “Mittens” and belongs to one of the physics-based  puzzle game apps, which works in a similar way as Disneys bestseller app “Where’s my water” and “Where’s my Perry”. This time however, there’s no digging but instead, cutting, sclicing, flying and bumping with the tomcat Mittens along the house facades. The story of Mittens is easyily told: Basically, he falls in love with the cat of his dreams  called “Mia”, who lives in the neighbourhood. To win her attention and heart, Mitten needs to jump across several balconies and windowsills, past the neighbours who can’t really make use of the climbing attempts of the lovely-dovley cat and are waiting with the frying pan for him to pass them.

This app also reminds us a little bit of the game Cut the rope, when boards need to be sliced and many other objects are used as facilities to collect as many diamonds as possible to reach the goal. Mittens is pretty cute and adorable, however he’s not as cute as the green bug-eyed monster of cut the rope. The level-design is also really good, but not outstandingly good. A pure deliberate, tactical approach is not really possible, because many game elements are aimed at quick responses and your skills.

How a Mittens-level is played:

Just a rough explanation. Mittens is sitting on a wooden board, which can be cut. As a result, the tomcat bumps into one or several sunshades, which partially need to be closed at the right time, to avoid the frying pan of the naughty neighbour.

If everything goes well, you either end up on another wooden board or an antenna, with which you can toss the tomcat with your best Angry birds manner, for example into a bird’s clutches, which is flying a fixed path and will let go of you on command.A hydrant is expecting you at the bottom to push you back up in the air.

Even if you do succeed in many other components of the following world’s in this app, therunder a circus with a ring of fire, this new game doesn’t really seem to spark as much as we thought it would. It is just another casual game app with those physical-based puzzle games with cute characters, which we have a lot of and also seem to hit our taste a lot more. It is really worth to take a look at the big classics of this kind of app category.

Mittens is cute, funny and offers the advantage to not have any self promotion inside the app. You can however, unlock all of the levels via in-app purchase already, if you can’t or are unable to unlock them via playing for whatever reason. If you like or know the games that we have introduced, then you’ll find that Mittens is a great extension to the games collection. Even cat-lovers will love this game, shouldn’t be too young though. The difficulty levels are quite demanding and challenging, especiall for novices in this game category. Our age recommendation for Mittens is 8+ years.
